Negative pressure room, infectious isolation room is a facility in hospital to against novel coronavirus COVID-19, it prevents cross-contamination from room to room, cutting out of the route of transmission of virus (COVID-19).
A ventilation system that creates a negative pressure relatively to adjacent area, air only flows from the area with high pressure to the area with low pressure, so the contaminated air cannot escape from negative pressure room to clean area. Supply air fan and exhaust air fan are interlocked, when the ventilation system is active, exhaust air fan must work first then the supply air fan starts, and when the ventilation system is off, the supply air fan stops then the exhaust air fan goes off.
The principle is to remove more exhaust air through a ventilation system more than fresh air allowed to the room. The negative pressure room is built by modular wall panels with airtight, door is hermetical.
An infectious isolation unit is consisting of three zones, patient room, bathroom and ante-room. Ante room is buffer for medical doctors and nursing people, doors are interlocked, it is very important to keep contaminated air from corridor. When medical staff comes out of the patient room, the door of anteroom cannot be opened till one-minute delays.
Pressure Gradient
Typical Infectious isolation unit pressure gradients, the patient room is at -15Pa, Bath room at -20Pa, Anteroom is at -10Pa, the corridor is at -5Pa.
